Summary

A novel of terrible first impressions, hilarious second chances, and the joy in finding your perfect match。

Dr。 Briana Ortiz’s life is seriously flatlining。 Her divorce is just about finalized, her brother’s running out of time to find a kidney donor, and that promotion she wants? Oh, that’s probably going to the new man-doctor who’s already registering eighty-friggin’-seven on Briana’s “pain in my ass” scale。 But just when all systems are set to hate, Dr。 Jacob Maddox completely flips the game 。 。 。 by sending Briana a letter。

And it’s a really good letter。 Like the kind that proves that Jacob isn’t actually Satan。 Worse, he might be this fantastically funny and subversively likeable guy who’s terrible at first impressions。 Because suddenly he and Bri are exchanging letters, sharing lunch dates in her “sob closet,” and discussing the merits of freakishly tiny horses。 But when Jacob decides to give Briana the best gift imaginable—a kidney for her brother—she wonders just how she can resist this quietly sexy new doctor 。 。 。 especially when he calls in a favor she can’t refuse。

After adoring Part of Your World, I knew this was a must-read for me。 And to my surprise, NetGalley approved me! I went into the read already knowing I’d love Bri and finished fully swooning over Jacob。 This is written in a Duel POV and had a good flow to the story。 I LOVED the letter exchange and found myself laughing often。 Which was needed because there are a lot of heavy topics tackled throughout the story。 I appreciate when books offer an awareness of mental health。 Jimenez does a wonderful After adoring Part of Your World, I knew this was a must-read for me。 And to my surprise, NetGalley approved me! This was my first Abby Jimenez book and I instantly went and downloaded all her other books as well。 I was blown away with the storyline and the emotion she evokes from her characters。 I wasn’t expecting as much humor as there was, and it was absolutely phenomenal。 The one liners and the situations she creates are just so fluid and hilarious。 I also wasn’t expecting to connect to the storyline as much as I did。 The donor aspect made me think of my FIL who had pneumonic leukemia and needed a bone This was my first Abby Jimenez book and I instantly went and downloaded all her other books as well。 I was blown away with the storyline and the emotion she evokes from her characters。 I wasn’t expecting as much humor as there was, and it was absolutely phenomenal。 The one liners and the situations she creates are just so fluid and hilarious。 I also wasn’t expecting to connect to the storyline as much as I did。 The donor aspect made me think of my FIL who had pneumonic leukemia and needed a bone marrow transplant and how my husband was able to give his father his life back。 I knew I had anxiety but didn’t realize the way I felt was how many others, I assume, also feel。 There are so many connecting factors to this beautiful story that I felt complete。 The narration was beyond amazing。 Zachary Webber as Jacob was perfection。 His rhythmic cadence to experiencing a moment of anxiety truly brought you into the scene。 The rapid words and elevated tone are so true to living inside an anxious moment。 His soft tenor and just trueness of himself just brought Jacob to life and I wanted to reach out and hug Jacob。 Kayla Garcia was new to me but I will definitely be looking for her in the future。 Her ability to deliver the emotional depth of Briana was spellbinding。 My heart ached for her even when I was yelling at the screen。 Her voice is soothing and fit the fluidity of the book perfectly。 Her emotional range rang true for Bri and literally brought me to tears。 This book is just a masterpiece。 From the very beginning to the editors note my heart swelled and wept and soul thrived and dived。 Please enjoy this book and the message that goes with it。 I know it’ll stick with me。 Thank you Abby for sharing so much of yourself。 。。。more

I seriously loved this book。 This was my first book by Abby Jimenez, and now I can't wait to go back to her other books。 The fake dating trope with a lovely, kind, gentle and affectionate cinnamon roll hero paired with a strong, fierce, protective heroine is pretty much all my catnip。 Bonus points that the MCs are both competent, caring doctors who act like the responsible adults they are, and that although the setup initially looked like they were being cast as rivals, that issue was resolved q I seriously loved this book。 This was my first book by Abby Jimenez, and now I can't wait to go back to her other books。 The fake dating trope with a lovely, kind, gentle and affectionate cinnamon roll hero paired with a strong, fierce, protective heroine is pretty much all my catnip。 Bonus points that the MCs are both competent, caring doctors who act like the responsible adults they are, and that although the setup initially looked like they were being cast as rivals, that issue was resolved quickly。 When Jacob starts as a new attending physician in Brianna's ER, their first meeting goes pretty disastrously。 Jacob has serious anxiety issues and finds himself tongue-tied in the face of Brianna's clear dislike, so, like all lovely cinnamon roll heroes, he goes home, broods, and decides to write her a lovely apology letter, knowing that if he tries to talk to her, due to his anxiety, he'll only get tongue-tied again。 Much to his surprise, not only does Brianna accept his apology letter, she writes back! Over the course of a week or so, they exchange notes back and forth, leaving them on each other's charting computer or locker until Jacob is finally comfortable enough to actually speak to her。 This section of the book, indeed all of the book was so well-written, clearly demonstrating the effect that anxiety has had on Jacob's life and how he has learned to cope with the paralyzing thought spirals that often plague him。 Brianna's younger brother is also plagued by anxiety so she quickly recognizes the signs and almost instinctively understands how to interact with him to set him at ease。 It's love and comfort almost at first sight for both of them yet due to past romantic disappointments, they both hold back, even as they get deeply involved in a fake dating situation。I can't think of anything I would change about this book。 It was pretty much everything I look for in a romance。 My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book。 All thoughts and opinions in this review are my own。 。。。more

There was so much about this book that I was caught off guard about。 There was love, loss, friendships, and humor。 But like many of her books, Abby Jimenez covers the heavier topics such as infidelity, chronic illness, and mental health。 You can tell Jimenez went above and beyond to do her research to represent information while maintaining tenderness, sensitivity and respect to her readers。 My one and only criticism of this book I had was the miscommunication trope。 I really wished Jacob and Briana would just sit down and talk to each other instead of having their own narrative of each other’s feelings。 So for that I did take off a half a star but I still very much loved this book。 If you’re looking for a book that delivers major feels, this one is it。 。。。more

This fake dating was so fun because as you read, you can see the walls Jacob and Briana had built around themselves break and they easily let one another in。 The anxiety rep was done with so much care and the kidney failure storyline was so touching after reading about Jimenez’s personal experiences (I strongly encourage you to read the author’s note at the end)。 I only had two minor issues with this book and one I’m willing to look past。 One, I do not enjoy miscommunication between people。 Especially when those people are grown adults。 So many times, Briana and Jacob could have told each other how they felt about their fake dating and the very real feelings they had for one another but just kept brushing it off。 Now, this did make for when they finally confess their feelings all the sweeter, but I just wanted to shake them and tell them to talk to each other! The second, is a trope I’m not too fond of but I could see coming when Briana and Jacob talked about a certain subject。 While I’m not mad or upset it happened, I just feel like it came too close to the end and was wrapped up too neatly。 Other than those two notes, I absolutely loved this book! Abby Jimenez has time and time again put out amazing love stories and I will read anything she writes。 。。。more

And then we meet Briana and find out she's getting divorced because she was cheated on by her husband and again, that's my life situation since October 2022。 I loved what she did with her revenge, it was not petty she channeled the bitch in her that I couldn't (I can't risk a law suit especially from trash) so I managed to live through her。 I love how bubbly and funny she was, she was like this ball of smiles that you just want to keep in your pocket or window and I was awed by it, how she was able to remain strong despite what had happened to her。 Cue Jacob and as if I wasn't having a tough time with keeping myself composed, not only is he supposedly hot and caring and shy, he has what I have: social anxiety。 Do you know how tough is it being on both sides of the coin? Being relatable to both characters to such a personal extent you get reminded of yourself, the good the bad and the in between? Especially the in-between because that's how I got here。 He was so thoughtful and I am a true sucker for that。 I can't handle anyone telling me they got my favourite donuts because they wanted to because why would anyone for me? I was so touched on behalf of Briana and I just wanted to squeeze the life out of him and keep him for myself。 What made the book realistic was showing the thoughts of how people, what went behind the "show", what were they really thinking。 Jacob had a tough time attending events with a lot of people in it due to his social anxiety, he clammed up and he had trouble breathing and his brain was constantly misfiring and that is me。 My hands start to shake when I attend events, my heart beats so fast I would wish for it to stop sometimes so I don't have to do that。 When I am in a place full of people, I always feel like I'm being judged and looked at。 I totally, fully understood how he felt。 And seeing Briana there for him, holding his hand and even having a phrase for each time they were out together so he could use that and she would give him the cue to take the space he needs for himself, that was so beautiful and thoughtful to read about。 I felt lonely reading this book today。 And the insecurities that Briana felt, about being second best because she was left behind - it is something I struggle with。 I went on dating apps just to self sabotage any possible connection before it even grows and then deleting the app so that I could protect myself from being left behind。 I'm not sure if I'm even capable of getting into a relationship without all of these trust issues not being there anymore。 I don't know if I will ever feel secure and stop pushing people away so that I can have something good。 And the way Jacob constantly showed up for her even when his own anxiety was on the verge of taking over, he took control of his emotions and himself and continue being there for her。 He never gave up on her and was always looking forward to every moment with her。 He expressed everything he felt through words and actions and it just made everything worth it。 I guess I am this emotional about a book because these are emotions I've kept locked up in me。 I have been going for counselling but I realised today I stopped opening up to my social circle about how I'm really doing。 I have been very surface level and I focused more on them than I shared about me。 Today I saw myself, healing from the person I was from October 2022, from the me who had hourly anxiety attacks and losing weight from the depression it caused me。 And I told myself that I too will get better and find someone like Briana and Jacob did, two people who are thoughtful enough and harmless to one another。 Two people who were emotionally responsive to each other's needs。 Two people who allowed each other to be who they are without any judgement。 Two people who let love meet each other halfway。 The Happy Ever After Playlist review 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Really cute and gave me all the butterflies, but was soured by the ending。 Kind of felt like the miscarriage should have been mentioned earlier in the book for it to make sense for the plot + I’ve read almost all of Abby’s books and it always ends with the couple resolving their issues by the protagonist getting pregnant which for me is just not it lol。 Like!?? Not to mention the miscommunication trope, which is completely frustrating。

Every once in awhile, I come across a book that I just can’t seem to put down and I must finish it immediately。 Yours Truly is one of those books for me。 I started it on a Saturday night and finished it that same Saturday night。 I loved every single second of this story and the characters in it。 Abby Jimenez created a story full of love, compassion, understanding, healing, and so much more。 I felt every single emotion possible throughout the story and could not put it down。 I absolutely needed m Every once in awhile, I come across a book that I just can’t seem to put down and I must finish it immediately。 Yours Truly is one of those books for me。 I started it on a Saturday night and finished it that same Saturday night。 I loved every single second of this story and the characters in it。 Abby Jimenez created a story full of love, compassion, understanding, healing, and so much more。 I felt every single emotion possible throughout the story and could not put it down。 I absolutely needed more of Briana and Jacob and their amazingly beautiful love story。 Ms。 Jimenez is an amazing storyteller and writer。 Her writing transports you directly into the lives of her characters and you do not ever want to leave, I know I didn’t。 Everything about Yours Truly was addictive and beautiful。 The characters in Yours Truly were the absolute best and so relatable。 You could feel the raw emotions of Briana, Jacob, and their families。 You can feel their pain, happiness, hope, love, acceptance, and understanding through the pages of the story。 I fell in love with Briana and Jacob’s family as much as I fell in love with the two of them。 The chemistry between Briana and Jacob was unreal。 The tension between these two was palpable。 You could feel how much they loved and wanted one another, even if it took them too dang long to admit it! I simply adored every single thing about Jacob。 His kind nature, his simple routines, his quietness, his heart, and even his social anxiety。 It made him, him。 And Jacob is absolutely amazing。 He went out of his way to help others and never wanted the recognition for it。 He just wanted to help others。 Everything about this man had me falling in love with a fictional character。 I loved him from page one and fell more in love with him after each page。 Briana was a different story。 It took me time to fall in love with her character。 She could be rough around the edges, with good reason, but I needed more time to start to enjoy her character。 She is witty, fierce, hard headed at times, and so full of love。 Together Briana and Jacob brought out the absolute best in one another。 Jacob felt completely at ease with Briana in a way that he had never experienced before。 He wanted to be with her all the time when he normally likes his solitude。 Briana broke her “don’t fall in love again because all men are the same rule” because Jacob is that amazing and understanding。 Also, he is giving a kidney to her brother。 He is giving her brother his life back and she is forever grateful to him for it。 But that’s not the reason she fell in love with this man。 Jacob gave her the space to be herself and showed her that not all men are like her cheating ex。 He accepted her exactly as she is and allowed her the space to be herself。 He fell head over heels in love with her。 He showed her through his words and actions that there are good men out there and he will love her even if she doesn’t chose a life with him。 I fell in love with their love and it was an amazing journey to be a part of。 I simply could not get enough of these two and I’m sad the story is over。 I feel like I could read about them forever。 Overall, I rate this amazing story a 5/5! If I could rate this book 10 stars, I would。 I am absolutely obsessed with Briana and Jacob’s love story。 It’s full of heartache, understanding, healing, acceptance, joy, and love。 It was an absolute joy and privilege to go on this journey with these two characters。 Abby Jimenez writes in a way that I feel every single emotion, heartache, and happiness that her characters do。 Yours Truly is one of the best books that I have read this year and I honestly cannot stop thinking about it。 I will miss Briana and Jacob tremendously。 I will continue to obsess over this story even as a start new ones。 I love it so very much。 Well done Ms。 Jimenez, well done。 。。。more

Truly, this book is perfect to me。 Very easy read, some humor (even though tackling some heavy subjects), and honestly a REALISTIC look at anxiety and trauma。 Biggest plus the characters are not in their twenties! Being able to see myself in a book is always a good thing。 Wonderful fake dating romance。

Yours Truly follows the life of two ER doctors - Briana & Jacob。 Detailing the events of their professional and personal lives, with which they navigate their own past hurts, traumas and struggles。 Yours Truly combines a few different tropes - enemies to lovers & forced proximity for sure! Romance books sometimes get a bad rap for being too mushy, soft or always “happily ever after”, but Yours Truly has such depth to its storyline that it stands apart in this category! The mental health representation was SPOT ON, profound, realistic & so well done - I really could feel the depth of the challenge and struggle that the characters were enduring, especially with anxiety。 Mental health is HEALTH - so I’m thrilled to see it represented so well! Also - as a fellow Minnesotan, like Abby, I LOVED the Minnesota ties, locations & details! 🙌🏼Overall this book will go down in history as one of my favorites & I am so grateful to NetGalley and Forever Publishing for the ARC! ❤️ 。。。more

From start to finish, I was captivated by the storyline and characters。 This book had everything I could want: romance, drama, and a realistic portrayal of the medical field。As someone who is passionate about the medical field, I appreciate the way this book depicted doctors as human beings with emotions, anxieties, and feelings。 It's refreshing to see the real face of medicine portrayed in literature, rather than the often robotic and unfeeling stereotype that is sometimes perpetuated。The roman From start to finish, I was captivated by the storyline and characters。 This book had everything I could want: romance, drama, and a realistic portrayal of the medical field。As someone who is passionate about the medical field, I appreciate the way this book depicted doctors as human beings with emotions, anxieties, and feelings。 It's refreshing to see the real face of medicine portrayed in literature, rather than the often robotic and unfeeling stereotype that is sometimes perpetuated。The romance in this book was also incredibly well-done。 It felt genuine and heartfelt, and the chemistry between the two main characters was palpable。 I found myself rooting for their love story from the very beginning。While I haven't read all of the author's books, this one has certainly earned a place on my list of favorites。 I loved this book so much that I will be recommending it to everyone I know who loves a good romance with a touch of realism。 Overall, I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a captivating and heartwarming readVery grateful to the publisher for this Read Now title 。。。more

This was my very first by Jimenez and I am officially running out to grab Part of Your World now! What a wonderful introduction to Jimenez’s work。 I adored the two main characters, Briana and Jacob, along with all of the supporting characters and relationships! The dual perspectives of the MC’s were so insightful when getting to know and understand these two characters。 I especially related to Jacob and his anxiety and loved that while both him and Briana dealt with very realistic and relatable mental health issues, they balanced each other out so perfectly。 “𝐿𝑜𝑣𝑒 𝑠ℎ𝑜𝑤𝑠 𝑢𝑝。 𝑇ℎ𝑎𝑡’𝑠 ℎ𝑜𝑤 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑘𝑛𝑜𝑤 𝑤ℎ𝑒𝑛 𝑖𝑡’𝑠 𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑙。”Jacob is the dreamiest fictional man-he went to such lengths to understand and be the person Bri needed him to be while constantly working on his own mental health。 I loved that he journaled, was an organ donor, had a plant room, had a three-legged dog, and wrote the swooniest letters to Briana。 Him giving her his journal at the end had me mentally sobbing。 Briana brought so much humor and independent, female boss vibes to the book-although at the end, her trauma and how she projected that onto their relationship was difficult to read。 I rooted so hard for this couple-they truly felt so real to me。 So many beautiful quotes were a result of their relationship and I’m so happy they got their HEA! “𝐻𝑒 𝑙𝑒𝑡 𝑚𝑒 𝑙𝑜𝑜𝑘 𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑜 ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑠𝑜𝑢𝑙。 𝐴𝑛𝑑 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑜𝑛𝑙𝑦 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑖𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒 𝑤𝑎𝑠 𝑢𝑠。” I will say that for a book with some of my least favorite tropes such as miscommunication, third act break up and a spoilery one that I won’t give away, I started to struggle around the 60-80% mark, but somehow by the end, it all worked for me。 There were also some really fun tropes that I do love, including workplace romance (set in a hospital-Grey’s Anatomy fans will love), fake dating, and friends to lovers。 “𝑊𝑒 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑎 𝑚𝑜𝑠𝑎𝑖𝑐。 𝑊𝑒’𝑟𝑒 𝑚𝑎𝑑𝑒 𝑢𝑝 𝑜𝑓 𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑡ℎ𝑜𝑠𝑒 𝑤𝑒’𝑣𝑒 𝑚𝑒𝑡 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑠 𝑤𝑒’𝑣𝑒 𝑏𝑒𝑒𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑟𝑜𝑢𝑔ℎ…𝑝𝑎𝑟𝑡𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑢𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑙𝑜𝑟𝑓𝑢𝑙 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑑𝑎𝑟𝑘 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑗𝑎𝑔𝑔𝑒𝑑 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑏𝑒𝑎𝑢𝑡𝑖𝑓𝑢𝑙。”Overall this is a book filled with memorable characters, quotable moments, emotional depth, plenty of humor, mental health representation, and at the heart of it all is a beautiful love story。 Thank you to Forever and Netgalley for my gifted eARC! 。。。more

PUB DAY BOOK REVIEW // YOURS TRULY5/5“We’re all a little broken, Briana。 We are a mosaic。 We’re made up of all those we’ve met and all the things we’ve been through。 There are parts of us that are colorful and dark and jagged and beautiful。 And I love every piece of you。 Even the ones you wish didn’t exist。”BE STILL MY FREAKING HEART!!!!!As soon as I read Part Of Your World last spring, and I knew Bri was getting her own book…I was giddy with excitement!!! Ya’ll: Yours Truly DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!!! In fact I think I love Bri & Jacob even more than Alexis & Daniel。 The emotional connection was SO DAMN STRONG and I loved every single second!Jacob, oh sweet and sensitive Jacob。 I love him so damn much。 I love how the anxiety rep was from a male perspective, and how he navigated everyday life。 Briana is an incredible sister, friend, doctor and all around a genuine person。 Benny, Bri’s brother needs a new kidney and I first hand witnessed renal disease in my household。 Last fall my dad had his left kidney removed due to cancer, so i could wholeheartedly relate to how badly Bri wanted a donor ASAP so he could live a healthy and full life。 Bri understood Jacob in a way that no one else did - and it was SO beautiful witnessing two people just completely GET each other。 The way Bri KNEW what triggered Jacob in social situations and was there for him…UGH。。it melted my heart。 This was quite the sloooow burn, the build up was raw and vulnerable。 Both Bri and Jacob had issues from their pasts that hindered the future - but I appreciated the hoops they went through for true love。 I loved every single page of this love story and I am PRAYING Benny gets his own happily ever after in a future novel!!SIMONE SAYS READ THIS IF YOU LIKE dual povmental health repsloooow burnsboth mc’s are doctors fake dating swearing parrotsthank you to @netgalley and @readforeverpub for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review! 。。。more
